With more than 30 years of experience in marketing communications, public relations, crisis communications, branding, retail and merchandising, Wendy Lane Stevens leads LANE in developing strategies that translate into client success. Her experience crosses national and international boundaries, spanning technology, business-to-business (financial services, legal, real estate, economic development), and consumer (healthcare, food & beverage, fashion, packaged goods and hospitality) industries.
Before establishing LANE in 1990, Wendy served as vice president at a mid-size public relations and advertising firm, divisional buyer for a major retail company and assistant advertising manager for a national clothing company. Wendy received a marketing degree in business administration with honors from the University of Oregon and earned a secondary degree in public relations and merchandising in New York City.

Shannon Brewer Riggs is a vice president at LANE. With more than 16 years of public relations experience, she has been instrumental in executing award-winning campaigns and has served a wide range of clients, including Balanced Body, Grass Seed USA, Integra Telecom, Omission Beer, Orchard Supply Hardware, Redhook Brewery, Save-A-Lot, Travel Oregon, Travel Portland, Umpqua Bank, Widmer Brothers Brewing and ZAGG. In 2009 she was named PRWeek’s Young PR Professional of the Year.
Prior to joining LANE, Shannon served eight years as a spokesperson, educator and leader for health activism organizations nationwide. She co-created the American Legacy Foundation’s award winning “truth” movement, a national youth-led, anti-corporate tobacco initiative. Additionally, Shannon co-founded Revolution Consulting, an independent social marketing consulting firm, in 2002. The firm partnered in the development, implementation and sustainability of statewide social marketing campaigns.
Shannon attended the University of San Diego, Gonzaga University and the University of North Dakota, where she served as a news reporter and anchor for the university’s Studio One television show and earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication.
With a strong commitment to health activism, Shannon has volunteered with the National Conference on Tobacco or Health, the Washington State Tobacco Prevention and Control Council, and the National Center for Tobacco Free Kids. She has also served as an advisor to the American Lung Association in Oregon and Tobacco Free Coalition of Oregon. Shannon currently serves as an advisory board member for the Lawton Chiles Preparatory School for Gifted and Talented Students and for the University of North Dakota Television Center.

Prior to joining LANE in 2006, Paula was the director of human resources for Bank of America in Oregon, where she also led marketing, customer service and community outreach programs for commercial banking. Previously, she gained human resources experience at Citibank, FCB/Leber Katz Partners, and R.H. Macy & Company, Inc. Paula graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in communication.

As controller for LANE, Vicki Ruse is responsible for the preparation of annual and monthly financial statements, reconciliations and client invoicing. She also oversees the day-to-day accounting activities as well as administration of employee benefits. Before joining LANE in 2005, Vicki dedicated 26 years to Portland-based Columbia Management, investment advisor for Columbia Funds, where she held positions ranging from fund accountant to senior corporate accountant.
