Save-A-Lot retained LANE PR for a series of store openings around the country. We work with local civic leaders to build awareness and anticipation in each new neighborhood. We also work with Save-A-Lot to target neighborhoods for sampling and develop strategies to drive customers through the door. At each opening, the community gets a sneak peak at its new store, enjoying a neighborhood night with food, drinks and music.
The Yucaipa store hosted a neighborhood night on a Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00. The LANE PR team was feeling pretty good about doing its part in getting the word out. At 4:30, 500 people were in line outside. But, Save-A-Lot had just found out its caterer scheduled the wrong day. With 30 minutes to spare, the LANE PR team scoured the shelves of the local Dollar Store for platters, cups, spoons and other serving items, then raced back for some shopping at Save-A-Lot.
By 5:00, six food stations were prepped with items from the store’s stock, giving the community a chance to sample, firsthand, what Save-A-Lot had to offer. The LANE PR team manned the food stations and managed last-minute replacement servers, while Save-A-Lot employees greeted their future customers and began building lasting relationships.
